Success Is Subjectively Defined
There is one wonderful post written by Kathy Sierra in redefining success, “Success should not mean management.” The diagram drawn by Kathy (below) summarized the truth of Success.

What is Success?
The best definition that fits Success can be taken from Steve Jobs’s words, “Do what you love.”
Human has forgotten the most important aspect of life in the search for success, which is not other than ‘love’ (as once quoted by Jobs). Love is the fundamental of all things and without love, life will be lifeless.
As stated by Kathy, most people define success as by how high they could climb the corporate ladder and of course the higher, the more successful. But once the measurement of desire or job fulfillment is brought in, the only thing that we could find inside them is empty.
That’s mean by the majority definition of success, we are only looking at the outer projection of success, which is not real and perhaps, we might even call it as ‘illusion.’ This false imagery is created to serve as the protection layer to the fragile soul inside which is not happy and fulfilled.     Â
By all means, what do they get in the end?
Nothing except pains to the soul. The figure of people in depression keeps on increasing all the time and the true winners are those in the psychology field and drugs industry.
Jesus even tells us to love our enemy, to practice love to the extreme. Sure people still can (pretend to) love the job that they don’t like which is done just for the sake of so called success.
But how deep the love could be when it is not real from deep inside?
Sacrifying love for the sake of success?
In ‘The Spirituality of Success: Getting Rich With Integrity,’ Vincent Roazzi states that success is who you are. Your achievements or your wealth is the by-products of your success state. That’s mean you are first to be success before success in just anything and in this case, the corporate ladder.
Lastly, success is not to be pursued especially working on something that you don’t love. Success is just who you are!

Gosh, I do hope I know what I love, hahahaha.
Quote from this article”That’s mean you are first to be success before success in just anything and in this case, the corporate ladder.” reminds me of the talk by a buddhist monk that bring the question happiness comes after success or success comes after happiness?
The answer is happiness first, then success.
However, I don’t really understand the quote that one has to be success first before success in everything.
Maybe he means that one has to find his love or passion then, pursue it dilligently and success will follow.
Gosh, I still don know what I love or am I afraid to know?
I hope this message doesn’t becomes an entire venue for me to whine or let go of my lament. hahaha.
Last word, keep on posting this type of article.
Hi, Long
I hope i can help you… or other people can help you to know what you love to do, however, there’s only 1 person in this world can help you… guess who??? … is you la !!! so, think carefully…. think it again and again and again, you will find the answer, am sure you will !!!!

Success Is Subjectively Defined…
Success means different things to different people. To some people, success means financial freedom. To others, success means a happy family or career. No matter what it is, I agreed that success must arise internally first. Just like if I want to be r…
